Following feedback from our recent Member survey, we plan to showcase our Members on our website and social media channels. We’re very happy to introduce our first ANS Member of the Month, Maria Pia Jaime. We hope you’ll head over and follow her on social media and perhaps get involved in her upcoming workshops!

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your work.
My name is Maria Pia Jaime, but everyone calls me Pia. I am a multidisciplinary Argentinian artist based in Carshalton since 2018. I am also a passionate Educator, a Community project leader and a Founder Mother of the award-winning project Maternal Journal.
My work finds intersections between Photography, drawing, collage, printmaking and mosaic works. I am deeply interested in the intrinsic meanings that objects carry and how we perceive them. Displacement, belonging (in intimate and public spaces), identity and memory have been present across the different mediums I use.

What projects are you working on at the moment?
I am currently teaching Photography at Brit Kids (Brit School’s community program), leading Maternal Journaling sessions in Carshalton (in partnership with Home Start Sutton) while completing Sutton’s Diversity Mural mosaics. The latest will be unveiled in the next month.
My work has been featured in Grayson Perry ‘s Art Club (Session 2, 1st episode) and in books (national and internationally). The most recent publication includes not only my photographs but also my Journaling guides and the Serpentine Gallery website. I will be leading a series of mosaicking workshops in the Borough, so please keep tuned.
