Sutton STEAMs Ahead is working with the creative studio SDNA to put on a collaborative immersive event in the Gallery at Sutton Central Library in January and you are invited to participate!

The event Threads of Light: Illuminating Sutton’s Cultural Tapestry has opportunities to collaboratively create visuals with SDNA. The next opportunity is on 25 November, details below:

Performance and Filming workshop

When & Where: 25th of November at Sutton Community Dance
St Nicholas Centre, St Nicholas Way, Sutton, SM1 1AW 16:00 – 18:30

Come dressed in an outfit that you would wear to a celebration and be ready to be filmed as part of our moving image project. Whether it’s a traditional garment that speaks to your heritage, a costume that makes you feel like a character from a story, or simply your favourite party attire, we want to see what celebration means to you!

Alternatively, if dressing up isn’t your style, bring along an object or a photograph that holds special memories or signifies a special moment in your life. We’d love for you to share the story behind it. And don’t worry, you don’t need any experience in front of the camera! We’re not looking for actors or performers, just real people willing to share real stories.

The filming and sound recordings collected throughout the day will be shared online with the participants and may form a part of Threads of Light, an immersive installation that will take place at Sutton Central Library in January 2024. This project aims to capture the unique diversity of Sutton’s residents, creating a collective memory for our community and a celebration of our individuality.
