About

Nature inspires me to create.

I’m a wildlife artist, illustrator and wildlife photographer. I’m also a Forest School Leader and outdoor educator, inspiring our younger generations to connect with nature and look after it. I enjoy sharing my passion for wildlife and art. I feature in the news blog of the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust 75th anniversary about Making Art Out of Wildlife thanking Sir Peter Scott.

My favourite tools to create with are ink and watercolour, although I run workshops using natural materials and leaf printing.

During COVID in 2020 -2021 I ran a series of workshops called Art in the Woods for families to enjoy creating natural art outdoors at our local nature reserve, Sutton Ecology Centre. I then received a grant from Arts Council England to run Art in the Woods during the school holidays from October 2023 – July 2024 free of charge.

I also provide an after school Wildlife Club where we get to enjoy a bit of learning and lots of different fun activities including arts & crafts.

I sometimes play with words and illustrate these too! My illustrations have been published in the Dear 2021 Project zine by Write Sparks and Why Mums Are Amazing zine by the Mum Poem Press. I created a piece for the Lemur Conservation Foundation called Sifakas Jungle Dance 60x40cm and it was displayed in World Lemur Festival 2022 Art Gallery. I was asked to design a cover for a poetry collection called ‘Mother Self’ and all 8 illustrations I created are inspired by the poems.

You can find me on Instagram @patriciagalliganart where you’ll see my latest creations and @qwerkypix my wildlife photography.

Feel free to get in touch if you’d like me to visit your school to deliver a natural art or printing workshop or run an after school Wildlife Club.

If you like my artistic flair, tell me about your commission. I do love thinking outside the box.

Portfolio

My portfolio is available on my website. I have included a sneak peak of a few original art pieces.

I believe that words inspire our imagination and creativity:

It is beautiful, it grows strong and basks in all weathers all year long.

Here are the remnants shed by a tree, a token of time painted by me.

A deca, it’s a DecaGinkgo, what does it mean? Ten of something pretty that you have seen.
