Animal Inside

A two-headed goat butts heads with itself. A falling cat’s arms stretch to absurd lengths as it clings to a branch. A mother opossum gazes forlornly from beneath her many babies. Welcome to the uncanny and darkly humourous world of Zoe Scammell, where expressive animals mirror the human condition. 

Zoe is a Carshalton-based artist and educator who has worked with venues including the Saatchi Gallery, National Portrait Gallery and Wallace Collection. Her first solo exhibition, supported by Arts Network Sutton, showcases a series of highly detailed drawings and paintings influenced by themes of mental health and emotional complexity.

Throughout the week-long show, a variety of creative workshops offer visitors the chance to engage in drawing, collage and clay activities. Free worksheets and family friendly activities will also be available. Come and explore this menagerie of the mind!

Animal Inside runs from Monday 4th – Friday 8th August 2025 at the Vellum Mill Gallery. Private View Thursday 7th August 7pm – 9pm
