11:30 - 14:00
On Saturday 15th August 2020, in partnership with The Manor Park Friends Group, Sutton New Town Community Festival will invite the people of Sutton to join us in remembering with thanksgiving the 75th Anniversary of the end of the second world war following the Victory over Japan. You and up to 5 companions will work in a group to decorate the paths around Sutton War Memorial with colourful chalk bunting. You will be helped by local artist Neal Vaughan who will provide suggestions, templates and guides.
Small groups will arrive at staggered time slots to take part in the project. You should bring your own face masks (we will have some spare) but everyone will be provided with hypoallergenic gloves and the chalk they need. There will be plenty of space between people in each group and plenty of space between groups. And we shall provide hand sanitizer and paper towels. Once busy chalking your design you are welcome to stay as long as you like.
Neal Vaughan is a professional artist teaching and practicing his work predominantly in South London, from his base in the London Borough of Sutton. He is the founder of Carshalton Artists and their hugely popular Open Studios, he practices his own art, teaches years 11 and 12 in the sixth form and engages the wider community through bespoke workshops and demonstrations. Neal will bring a huge range of skills and experience to this project.
