Sutton Women’s Centre are holding a celebration of women for International Women’s Day at the Cryer Arts Centre in Carshalton.

The celebration will take part on Sunday 8th March and they have a wide range of activities and speakers lined up for fun and exciting event for all the family.

There will be interactive workshops throughout the day, including an art workshop with Anna Virabyan, Mindfulness Self Compassion from Kind Mind Academy, a drama workshop for children by Dramabuds, Gary Mason Rhythmical Hand Drummers, and other inspirational speakers.

As part of the weekend of celebration, Anna Virabyan, who runs the Women’s Centres Art for Wellbeing classes, which are funded by Sutton College, is holding an exhibition of her art, funded by Sutton Arts Network.  She is a survivor of domestic violence and is building a reputation for herself as an artist.  The exhibition will feature her own work as well as some of the women who participate in her class, also survivors of domestic violence.

12-1pm – Cure your Cravings” – bring chocolate, cigarettes or wine to this session and let Karen Savage from Be Epic show you how to cure your cravings.

1.30-2.30pm – Art Workshop for Families – children are welcome but need to be supervised by an adult.

3pm-4pm – WOMEN – a talk on inspirational women who have made a difference to the lives of women.

4pm-5pm – Beautiful You – a talk exploring the concept of beauty, with a focus on inner beauty.

5pm-6pm – Be Careful What You Think – Our thoughts are powerful and determine who we experience life.

12.30-1.30pm – Gary Mason Rhythmical Hand Drummers

2-3pm – Superhero Drama Adventure with Dramabuds – suitable for 2-8 year olds and their parents.

3-4pm – A Mindfulness Self Compassion Workshop

4pm TBC

5pm – Breaking the Chains Workshop – Drama workshop to build confidence and self esteem.
